The European Patent Office states in its reply that this kind of patent is too ordinary and the invention already exists; therefore, it cannot be granted protection. Likewise, Amazon’s reasoning that the invention constitutes a business method, was rejected. “A business model cannot be protected, unless it is used to solve some technical problem,” the EPO reply read.
